Shinawil – a case study

ShinAwiL is the production powerhouse behind some of Ireland’s biggest entertainment series’ including The Apprentice, Dragons’ Den, MasterChef and The Voice of Ireland. They’re masters of their trade and they needed a reliable platform to manage their social posts and behind the scenes work quickly and easily.
The Challenge:
Ever since the X Factor producers realised that they could boost ratings by getting hosts, judges and contestants to post content in between episodes, the production companies behind “shiny floor productions” like The Voice or Dragons’ Den have been creating behind the scenes content to keep the series watchers primed for the next episode.
Much of it has been done on little if any budget so they have had to learn how to turn around content fast and simple – but with the same production values that the main show has.
The Solution:
During a season shoot, the production and post-production teams have to work as fast and efficiently as possible – there isn’t as much money in TV anymore. As a result, they needed to implement a new solution, cloud based, that could be accessed from everywhere and connected to everything.
To accommodate them, we implemented the full Overcast DAM solution.
The Results:
Production and post-production teams were able to share content with the talent (and vice versa) securely and digitally. It was imperative that the content was secure so that nothing was leaked as to who was going to win or lose the next weekend.
The platform fit seamlessly into their workflows – the simplicity was key in on-boarding the less technical talent who featured on the show.
Being able to access and distribute the content on smartphones meant that the talent didn’t need to travel to the post-house when new content became available for sharing.
